Dr. Ondategui-Parra completed Medical School at the University of Barcelona (Spain). After that, she was accepted in a European pioneering residency program in Healthcare Management and Hospital Administration, becoming Board Certified in that field after completing the four-year residency program. She also obtained a Master in Public Health and a Master in Health Economics and Healthcare Management from European universities. She moved to the United States as a Fulbright Scholar to complete her PhD in Health Policy and Management at the Harvard School of Public Health.
Dr. Ondategui-Parra joined Ernst and Young to lead the Life Sciences practice in Spain focusing on performance improvement. She is also member of the global Health Industries Leadership Team. She has extensive international experience in the sector having worked with both national and international corporations. Her experience includes strategic and business planning, market access and product launching, cost cutting initiatives, health IT strategy and operational integrations.
Prior to Ernst & Young, Dr. Ondategui-Parra directed the Healthcare and Pharmaceutical sector at PwC. She also served as Chief Executive Officer of two of the main private hospitals in Europe, both of them based in Barcelona. In Boston, she held several executive positions at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and its associate the Dana Farber Cancer Institute; both organizations affiliated to Harvard Medical School. As the Director for Clinical Operations at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, she managed the strategic planning and hospital administration component of the main clinical services lines.
She keeps her academic affiliation with The Economics and Health Research Center (CRES), Universitat Pompeu Fabra, in Barcelona, Spain running different research projects in Healthcare Services. Dr. Ondategui-Parra is also Assistant Professor at Boston University Medical School. She is a sought after speaker in health care management lecturing in courses of prestigious professional organisations around the world.
