Diana Dragutinović

Minister of Finance

Diana Dragutinović was appointed finance minister in July 2008. She had previously served as vice-governor of the National Bank of Serbia (the country’s central bank) since 2004, in which role she was responsible for co-ordination and management in research and statistics, monetary policy, market operation and payment systems. She was the architect of the monetary policy framework approved in September 2006, aimed at achieving low inflation. In 2002-04 she was a special adviser at the International Monetary Fund and in 2001-02 she fulfilled the same function for the Serbian finance ministry. Ms Dragutinović is the author of numerous articles on economic growth, inflation, and monetary and fiscal policy. She is co-editor of the journal Economic Thought and a member of the international editorial board of the journal Economic Annals. She graduated from the economics faculty of the University of Belgrade, from which she subsequently obtained an MSc and also a PhD in macroeconometric modelling, and at which she still lectures. She undertook further study and training at institutions including the London School of Economics, the World Bank and George Washington University in Washington DC.
